Mariyah Moten was born in Karachi, Pakistan on
January 18. She moved to the United States at the age of 5. Mariyah
Moten started modeling for local boutiques and charity fashions
shows at the age of 16. Few years later she signed on with First
Models Modeling Agency.
In 2004 she participated in a local contest Desi
Star Search, and won 1stplace, two years later in 2006 she participated
in a national beauty contest Miss Pakistan and placed in the top
five. Later that year she was given an opportunity to participate
in the Miss Tourism Queen International Pageant where she won the
Miss Charity title. Mariyah also became the first Pakistani to participate
in the Miss Bikini Universe pageant in August 2006 and won the Miss
Press/Best in Media title, as being the most photographed and written
about delegate at the contest. Soon after achieving this controversial
title she was approached by a Brazilian media company to interview
for a Bikini Documentary, which was debuted at the Holland Film
Festival. In 2006, Mariyah made an appearance at the Bollywood Music
Awards 2006 in Atlantic City, where she presented the best dance
video award to The Sona Family. She also appeared on the front cover
of Sexy South Asian Girls 2007 calendar. In 2007, Mariyah Moten
participated in the Miss Asia International pageant where she placed,
2nd runner up. This was a huge victory for Pakistan to win a title,
placing top 3 in an international beauty pageant. She also signed
with Kohinoor Diamonds to be the spokesperson and model for 2007.
She also has modeled for various South Asian clothing lines. In
many ways, she has become the face of mainstream South Asian women
by professionally representing herself in the world of fashion and
modeling.
Mariyah Moten has always been passionate about
the entertainment industry; she attended JLS make up school in Los
Angeles and then completed her training in acting at the New York
Film Academy and TVI actors’ studio. In addition to this training,
she has also received education from the University of Houston's
renowned hotel and restaurant management program at the Conrad N.
Hilton College.
